Yay, finally holidays! Time for some new reviews and more, but also a lot of time for gaming. Along with a bunch of games, I also got a copy of RESIDENT EVIL 5 by my side! :D
The story of RE5 starts 2 years after the incidents in the animated movie Resident Evil – Degeneration, when Chris Redfield, known from the first game, is now a member of the anti-bioterrorism organisation BSAA, and travels to the Kijuju Autonomous Zone in Africa, for the investigation of a black market deal. He meets Sheva Alomar, another BSAA member who acts as his partner from now on. After getting mission briefing and equipment, they suddenly get attacked by the local people, who are infected by a type of parasite. Chris and Sheva decide to trace down the origin, and especially Chris will face people he knows.
I play this game now for like a week, but why do I not treat it like a Resident Evil game? Because it isn’t at all. Resident Evil 5 is what you can call a “classical shooter”. Also there are a lot of similes between Resident Evil 4 and RE5. For erxample you play in the “over-the-shoulder”-perspective, the game is split into “chapters”, you can buy a whole bunch of weapons and equipment and there are quciktime event-scenes. New in RE5 is the partnerwork. Some actions can only be executed if you work together with your partner, also when you’re almost dead, your partner can still help you back to consciousness. RE5 has also a Coop-Mode, so you can play with a friend over XBox LIVE or System Link, but also you can play on one console.
Especially the Coop-Mode is what makes the game pretty interesting. You can play with your friend instead with an AI-partner, which makes it easier to play. Nevertheless me and my friends had our failures in the game X_x”
But I recommend to first play the game in single mode, because it could get problematic if you get used to a “non-AI”-partner. I had some problems at the very beginning when i started to play in single mode, after all those numerous Coop-sessions.
Later in the game, you’ll get the chance to play the game mode “The Merchenaries”, where you shoot down as many enemies as you can to collect points for unlocking new maps, also for new extras. There is also a downloadable Versus-mode for the game, but unfortunately, it’s not allowed in Germany. God-damn it, if it is SO brutal, why the f**k did they allow the game itself, filled with more brutality than this sh**ty little mode ._.
What I dislike on the game is the fact that there is no horror anymore in this game. Resident Evil used to be a “survival-horror”-genre, but this is rather a “survival-action”-game. I miss the thrill of suddenly appearing zombies out of dark corners…wait, there aren’t any! The whole game is filled with the sunlight of Africa, and there isn’t even a little piece of horror. I think the japanese name for Resident Evil, “Biohazard”, fits more in this part.
Regardless of the missing horror, I can recommend RE5 to every fan of shooters, also to fans of Gears of War 2. Enjoy the “Fear you can’t forget”.

Yeah you’ve read right. Nintendo confirmed a remake of the best Pokémon Versions ever. Pokémon Silver and Gold. One more time we can travel in Johto. With improved graphics, improved sounds but still the best Pokémon ever. Even Ovi and me have the same opinion that this Versions were the best ones. But we don’t know if they’ll be like the original Versions. But it seems like it IS like the older Versions.
