So I’m back from the dead.. no I’m just not that busy at the moment so I decided to review a Game, which I just get from oversea. First of a short statement. The Digimon series has so much potential, I don’t get why they don’t make a big game. They only develop, in my homing opinion, Minigames. I really don’t get it. But enough of those idiots who calles them self game developer.
The Game I now review is called: Digimon World – Championship.
It’s a simulation where you can train Digimon so the digivolv to higher levels and fight in tournaments, collection medlas, to raise your Tamer-Rank and to parcipiate at the great Digimon Championship. You’re a tamer, who is a newbie with Digimon training. You start with a short tutorial, which tolds you everything you have to know for train your Digimon.
In this game Digimon live in terretorys which you have to visit to hunt them. You can stun, damage and paralyze them so you can cath them easier. For catching them you use a rope which has different ranks which you have to unlock with higher Tamer-Ranks oder new medals. For real. You can’t get forward in this game until you win some tournaments. When you finally and succesfully hunt a Digimon, it is brought to your cage.
The Cage is your personal boot camp for Digimon. You can train and torture them until their nearly to their death, like give them nothing to eat or train them altough they have this stunning stars around their head and 1 HP left. But I’m not that sadistic that I tried this out. Okay… one time. But anyway. You can change the cage parts with other parts, which you can buy at the store. Every part of the cage trains another attribut of your digimon. The most of your time you look at this cage and your digimon which do not train all the time, when you put, I usually throw them, in their cages. You have to put them in, wait a few seconds so it trained, the you have to put it into another cage and back into the cage where you want to train it. This sucks.
When you think your Digimon is enough trained, by the way to max. out the stats is so damn easy, that you have a full trained Digimon after three ingame days. And another fact: When you rise an attribute another is sinking. So when you train attack your defence will sink, but if you wanna train your defence, your attack sink. So you have to specialise into one direction. Anyway. When your Digimon is strong enogh you can enter tournaments, which has special categories, for example that only Vaccine or Data Type Digimon can battle or only Mega Digimon can participate. Another funny but sucking fact: Your Digimon can’t digivolve to higher levels until you have the right or higher Tamer-Rank, again. But you can also fight against some free teams, to test your Digimon.
The style of what the fights proceed is really the most negative thing in this game. Your Digimon enter the arena, which has different zones, the whole fight is automatic. You have nothing to do, expect watching. You can’t give orders, move the camera, surrender. Yes you can do nothing! When the KI sucks your Digimon which have the highest stats and are on the Mega level, loose, because their KI suck. Yeah. Very well thought this battle system.
The graphic is Gameboy Advance style. So I have not to tell something ‘bout this expect: I like it. I like this style of graphic.
Fazit:
After a long amount of time when I played Digimon World on the Playstation 1, I played this game and at first I was impressed of the gaming style. But after 5 years, in ingame time when my best Digimon dies exactly before a important tournament, it really gets boring.
